An articulatory and acoustic

چکیده
Pro Cluttering is, thus far, a lesser investigated fluency disorder. While decades ago pathologists focused on the personality of clutterers (e.g. aggressive, messy, hasty), more recent work is dedicated to neurological, phonetic, speech and even hand motor aspects in seeking to understand the disorder. This paper will present an articulatory and acoustic study of speech motor abilities of three clutterers and three control speakers by means of the electromagnetic midsagittal articulography. The speech material consisted of repetitive CVsyllables and foreign words. Our results generally provide evidence that clutterers show kinematic patterns for the repetitive syllables similar to those of the control group, but their results differ with respect to the foreign words. Results show much more variable articulation for all clutterers as well as reduction phenomena for one clutterer.

A modeling investigation of articulatory variability and acoustic stability during American English Õ.Õ production
This paper investigates the functional relationship between articulatory variability and stability of acoustic cues during American English /./ production. The analysis of articulatory movement data on seven subjects shows that the extent of intrasubject articulatory variability along any given articulatory direction is strongly and inversely related to a measure of acoustic stability ~the exte...
متن کاملSpeech recognition with phonological features: some issues to attend
It is often argued that acoustic-phonetic or articulatory features could be beneficial to automatic speech recognition because they provide a convenient interface between the acoustic and the linguistic level. Former research has shown that a combination of acoustic and articulatory information can lead to improved ASR. However there exists no purely articulatory driven ASR system that outperfo...
متن کاملIntroduction of constraints in an acoustic-to-articulatory inversion method based on a hypercubic articulatory table
Our acoustic to articulatory inversion method exploits an original articulatory table structured in the form of a hypercube hierarchy. The articulatory space is decomposed into regions where the articulatory-to-acoustic mapping is linear. Each region is represented by a hypercube. The inversion procedure retrieves articulatory vectors corresponding to an acoustic entry from the hypercube table....
متن کاملIntegrating Articulatory Information in Deep Learning-Based Text-to-Speech Synthesis
Articulatory information has been shown to be effective in improving the performance of hidden Markov model (HMM)based text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis. Recently, deep learningbased TTS has outperformed HMM-based approaches. However, articulatory information has rarely been integrated in deep learning-based TTS. This paper investigated the effectiveness of integrating articulatory movement data t...

This thesis is a combination of empirical and modeling work concerning articulatory-acoustic relationships in speech production. The empirical work investigates the functional relationship between articulatory variability and stability of acoustic cues during American English /r/ production. The analysis of articulatory movements shows that the extent of intra-subject articulatory variability a...
